Dr. Janna Iyer

Dr. Janna Iyer, an Atlanta native, completed her undergraduate degree at Emory University. After working in the eye care field, she decided to become an optometrist that works primarily with children. She graduated with highest honors from the Southern College of Optometry.  She then completed a residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation, with an emphasis on pediatrics and brain injuries. She has earned numerous awards for both her clinical skills and research in the field of vision development and learning-related vision problems. Prior to completing her optometry degree, she worked as a vision therapist. She understands the visual struggles that many children go through, and that it may not be easy for them to describe what they experience.  Dr. Iyer is a fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and specializes in treating children with a lazy eye, eye turn, and learning-related vision problems. She also works extensively with patients that have suffered a brain injury or stroke, implementing the latest ideas and research to help patients recover faster.

Dr. Iyer enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, traveling, and playing tennis.

Meet Our Team

Lyndsey joined the team at Vision Care and Therapy Center in 2013 with 8 years of optical experience. She completed her certification with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) in 2018 and is the head vision therapist.

“I am so blessed having been led to a career that brings such joy on a daily basis. Seeing the many ways we have been able to help people –realize capabilities and intelligence, relieve life inhibiting symptoms and open a new perception of their world – fuels a desire to continue learning. Walking through the door you can feel the positivity and hope.”

Kayla has been an anchor at Vision Care & Therapy Center since 2015.  Beginning as a vision therapist, she now floats between the reception desk – scheduling and verifying insurance, pretesting , answering questions about vision therapy, and assists as an optical technician fitting glasses and contact lenses for our patients.  Due to her cross training, she assists our doctor and staff in all areas as needed.

“I have enjoyed working with children for many years and joined the staff at Vision Care & Therapy in 2015 because of this.  We now see patients of all ages, with a variety of vision difficulties.  My cross training has made it possible to be of service to our patients in many aspects of their treatment.”

Juliet has been at Vision Care & Therapy Center since 2018 after graduating from college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.  She works primarily as a vision therapist, but has been crossed trained to work at the reception desk as well.

“I joined the Vision Care & Therapy Center team right after I graduated college. I wanted to work at VCTC because I wanted to utilize my psychology degree as well as work with kids and adults who have visual problems like mine. Growing up with amblyopia of my left eye, I was limited to patch therapy and surgery. My family did not know anything about vision therapy at all. Being able to help children and adults learn how to use their eyes efficiently without a patch or surgery makes working at VCTC rewarding to me.”

Barbara is the smiling face you meet at the front desk or the warm voice you hear on the phone with primary responsibilities of reception, scheduling, insurance verification, medical claims and billing.

“My career has been focused in management, sales and marketing, mostly for large corporations.  In 2017, I joined the Vision Care & Therapy team with hopes to make a more purposeful and rewarding impact on the lives of our patients and their families.  It has been a positive next step for me.”

Rachel joined our team at Vision Care and Therapy Center in 2018 with a degree in Psychology from Shorter University in Rome, GA. Rachel has experience working in mental health, social work, and neurodevelopmental education for children with developmental disabilities and developmental delays. Rachel has pursued her career as a vision therapist to provide the highest quality of care by developing awareness and change to the visual system through behavioral approaches.

“The amount of progress I have witnessed within each patient has been astounding. When I see the smiles and the emotional tears of our patients as they begin to perceive their world in an entirely new way, I cannot help but to celebrate alongside them. I am incredibly thankful to be a part of each patient’s journey as their success is so rewarding to witness.”
